Is Jesus God?

Many attacks have been lodged throughout the entire church history on the Deity of Christ, and every cult in the world either denies the Deity of Christ or His redemptive work on the cross. We are then forced to give a reason why we believe in the Trinity and why we believe That Jesus is God. I have never been asked about the Deity of the Holy Spirit before but countless times I have had to defend the Deity of the second Person of the trinity against atheists and Muslims.

Christianity is a Mono-Theistic religion, that is , belief in One God. Therefore To say that Jesus is God and the Holy Spirit is God sounds Dualistic and puts Christianity as a Tri-theism religion or all other kinds of theism. We believe in One God who is a triune Being, Father, Son and The Holy Ghost, each member of the Trinity being co-eternal and co-equal. Each person or each member of the Trinity is not a separate God as this would repudiate our belief in One God.

Muslims accuses Christians of hyperbolism, they have strong beliefs that Jesus never claimed to be God and we Christians infer to the idea that was instituted in the council of Nicea in 325AD as they say. If that is true then Christianity would be false religion and its followers would be the most rigorous blasphemers in the face of the earth. If Jesus never claimed to be God then why should we spread lies and still call ourselves godly people? That's one side of the coin though, if He truly claimed to be God then it would make Christianity the only true religion and the rest liars. The bible does us Teach us without any shadow of doubt that Jesus is God, in fact you cannot read from the bible and not recognize the GodHood of Jesus. Sometimes the New Testament writers use the Titles Lord and God to both The Father And the Son interchangeably and sometimes you might not know whom the author is refereeing to until you study the text more closely. Below are some of the reasons why we believe Jesus is God:

Reasons why we Believe Jesus is God

Heb 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

He had a pre-existence and He is Eternal

A. He that Created all things, and He alone is infinite, uncreated and self existent.

Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Joh_6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

Jesus was Omniscient (all knowing)

Jesus could read minds of people and He knew all things:

Joh 2:24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,

Joh 2:25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

Joh 21:17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

He forgave Sins

Q. Who alone can forgive sins?

A. Who can forgive sins, but God alone? Luke_5:21

But Jesus Forgave sins while on earth

Mar_2:10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)

Luk_7:48 And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.

He was sovereign over nature and inanimate materials
